It is better, I suppose. But Dani California is way more catchy, and I just can't get it out of my head! This Message Edited On 09.19.06

It's hard to beleive that people are actually giving this album such a high rating. I know it's your opinion and that's fine with me but a double disc album with such little substance is just to hard to listen to. I listened to the first disc today and there's some really good stuff on it but the music just gets really generic. I wish Flea would have took some of his bass work from BSSM and mixed it in with some of the rock influences from this album.

Yeah, I think I'm going to get BSSM. I heard the song Under The Bridge, (who hasn't) and really love it. Even though it's been played so many times, I still can't resist playing it over and over. Is the rest of the album anything like that song?

BSSM is more like Charlie and Hump de Bump. It's punk funk pretty much. The title track is oh, so catchy. It make take a couple of listens for you to transition from this melodic RHCP to the funk of BSSM, but eventually, you'll be hooked.

I forgot that this album is actually really, really good.
But I feel the exact opposite, Jupiter is definatelyl better than Mars, Mars has more filler tracks, though I do agree it flows better.
I think my favorite track out of both discs is "Wet Sand," either than or "Snow," but both are so goddamn relaxing, and both give me goosepimples.

Mars is a grower. I've listened to this album so many times, and Mars finally sounds better to me. Slow Cheetah gets way too much hate on this site, I think.
Well, this is about on par with their last two albums, stuck somewhere between a 3 and a 3.5. In my mind, the Chilis were at their best with Dave Navarro as guitarist, closely followed by Hillel Slovak. Frusciante's much better on his own, I feel, but he does do really well sometimes on here.
If I had to rate RHCP's top 3 albums, it would go something like 1. OHM 2. UMPP 3. BSSM. Good review, too.
