Lyrically I'd say it's DSMB but not instrumentally

Linear notes and lyrics of the album have yet to be released and the mix makes them pretty unintelligible with our current knowledge so idk what you are hearing :/

I mean obviously it's not DSBM in the traditional sense of ambiance, droning guitars and minimalist drums but it just seems more DSMB than standard BM to me.

This sounds awesome. Gonna jam it tomorrow.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Apologies for the whole DSBM thing. Bands such as Xasthur, Thy Light, Nocturnal Depression, Happy Days, and a few others got me into DSBM, and ultimately into bands such as Skaphe. I felt that the atmosphere was a lot more akin to DSBM than standard BM, as Tunaboy45 stated, and that Skaphe's style was just an atonal progression of the genre. Would it be safer to go with something such as post, or avante-garde? Will remedy issues in the review soon.

Nice review, especially for a first. I really enjoy the lighthearted tone. I've always heard really good things about this band, and they've been recommended to me quite a few times, but I've never checked them out. The Portal/Deathspell Omega love-child thing sold me though, and since I have some time tonight I think I'll check it out.
Pos, and keep reviewing man.

Thanks, TheSpirit! I really appreciate your kind words! And yeah, definitely give them a spin! Check out their previous album too if you enjoy this; undeniably the same group, but with a considerably different production approach!

Like this a lot more than their last. The murkier production suits them and it kind of reminds me of Rhinocervs, which is never a bad thing.
|
| |
LifeFeedsOnLife, I agree. Rhinocervs make set some ridiculous tones, and the production techniques definitely assist. Still really like their last effort, but this tops it hands down imo.

assuming you're new, welcome to the site cryptologous (or at least to the verbose part of it). I liked the review and will check this out, sounds like something I would dig. have a pos!

Thanks, osmark86! I have spent a little time lurking here, but I am quite new for the most part. Hopefully I can get my head around things in the coming days!

bit of a lurker myself nowadays, but I get the occasional urge to splurt some opinions /musings every now and then. good luck getting your hear around things, that is something of a ubiquitous life-challenge in and of itself innit? ^^

this is fucking suffocating
|

I'm all for the lurk-n-splurt approach (potential innuendo unintentional). And ubiquitous life-challenges are always a fun time matey
And Evreaia, absolutely! It gets more intense with each listen, personally. A brilliant choice of background music when playing Devil Daggers or Diablo 3 too!
