this is really good and tbh i feel like it would be getting half the negativity its getting right now if it didn't follow centipede
also i love geo but i kind of hope the next thing they do is without him cuz they getting too cozy with the lion in a coma boingy synth sound/drum machines and they don't really do too much for this i think

The freak vocals at the start of Vertical remind me of 'Delta Bay' by Empire of the Sun.
I find the chorus to Vertical really insipid I gotta say, the backing vocal hook just feels lost in the mix again.
The album is crying out for a top 20 tune like Applesauce for me. Every song here would struggle to make a top 50 AnCo songs and that's pretty damning

the melodic transitions on vertical are some of the best they've ever come up with idc what anyone says

I agree with the sentiment about live drums. I really wonder if this was an intentional omission, as I can't see any reason why they would omit them, save the cohesiveness it seems to provide.

"this is really good and tbh i feel like it would be getting half the negativity its getting right now if it didn't follow centipede"
Not seeing what you're getting at here because Centipede Hz rules but this has no relation to it. Centipede was kinda gritty and abrasive and exciting. This is clean and boring and lifeless. But okay.

Centipede was tiring as a front to back listen with lesser songs like Monkey Riches and Mercury Man dragging, but the highlights are stronger than on here

Centipede Hz was a 5 for me. One of the most under-appreciated albums out there.
You're also doing yourself a disservice if you aren't listening to this on headphones.

I think my biggest problem with this album is its lack of moments.

Listened to this again then put on 'Today's Supernatural' and 'Applesauce' from the last one...they still had it then, don't get me wrong Centipede is patchy but when they hit the mark its great.
'Supernatural' destroys something like 'Burglars' and 'Applesauce' is in a different league to 'Vertical'. I'd be surprised if anyone could listen to those songs and not hear that difference
