He got real repetitive in just the tracks in which he was featured on Compton, so I can't even imagine how quick I'd be tired of him here. I'll probably check his singles though.

^It's not as bad as you'd think but yeah definitely nothing special.

Also Pitchfork blew their load all over this album. Same with Compton for that matter.

Pretty much everyone outside Sput is blowing their load over this album it seems. It is great though so I'm not exactly surprised.

I hide from Pitchfork. I didn't know they liked Compton. Hardly anyone here did.

The production on this was super sweet, but I'm not really sold on .paak as an MC/vocalist and I'm not really convinced by the lyrics as well.

Them spoken word samples @ the end of every song really gets annoying

The spoken word samples work well after Heart Don't Stand a Chance and Carry Me but later on in the album not so much. The surfer shit gets a bit annoying.

Yeah but it's all forgiven because he samples Yoshi in Heart don't stand a Chance

Not a perfect record by any means, but the I just love the good vibes here. Gives me a dumb ole grin throughout.

If I'm rating records on pure enjoyability this will be an AOTY contender.

shouldn't that be how all records are rated?

Yeah, just based on how much you like listening to it.

There are plenty of records I've listened to and think are near perfect that I wouldn't consider enjoyable experiences.

Either those that are submerged in a sense of dread or depression. There are also technical marvels that may not catch my ear entirely but I can still recognize as great records and rate accordingly.

How can you consider something near perfect if you don't really like listening to it though?

I get there are "technicalities" that you can appreciate, but does that really matter if you don't like what you're hearing?

that's part of why sputnik's rating system is always so skewed. look at the "new releases" tab and compare how many albums are rated "above average" (2.5) and how many are rated below that. a lot of users think "well i don't really vibe with ___ album but i can see why people do so i'll just rate it a 3.5 and call it a day"
