Since it's just us and I trust your confidentiality, I have to say that his album is kinda boring.

Haven't jammed this in a while, but today. I love 'Høyfjeldsbilde' & 'Halling' sooo much!

It's amazing how influential this album was on the instrumental acoustic neo-folk genre. Bands like Vàli, October Falls, Musk Ox, Empyrium (acoustic), might not exist without this album. Same can be said for Bergtatt's effect on an entire genre of romantic black metal. But what's crazy to me is Ulver were just teenagers, when they wrote and recorded these albums, and the fact that one band created two groundbreaking albums 1 year apart is just incredible.

Neofolk predates Ulver. It is barely different to traditional folk music.

You are correct, neo-folk as a greater whole does, but I am referring to the instrumental dark-folk side of neo-folk (see bands I listed) which is much more Kveldssanger than DI6

Well Dark Folk barely existed as a term before Miklak added it to Rateyourmusic's genre list. I'm not saying it isn't a valid genre, but that it isn't that significant of an offshoot from Neofolk and was practically created by rym.

The swapping of Gothic Punk and Industrial influences for Nordic folk music makes it even less distinct than Neofolk was.

Edit: Apparently dark folk was originally called Apocalyptic folk but was also a term used interchangeably with neofolk?

Underrated and better than the Black Metal albums for my tastes. I'm a big Norse mythology nerd though.

Same here. Not my fave by a long shot, might actually be my least fave main Ulver LP. No wait. It is.
