The genre nu metal is basically anything goes. Doesn't always mean it's good though lol.

Yah but there are a lot of varying sounds scrunched into one subgenre tbh. There's definitely a more metal side of nu metal and a more rap side to nu metal.

Electronics and samples, etc play just as big a role, too.

That's why I kinda feel like it's too wide of a subgenre, there are hardly any nu metal bands that sound alike because the definition is so vague.

this.
Which is also why I think it's quite an underrated genre.

It's certainly misunderstood many times.

misunderstood for sure, underrated, not totally. i love the fuck out of korn and slipknot's first few albums (only the first two are really nu metal in my book) and i can even get down to Limp sometimes but man it gets hella shit aside from those ones, mainly

"really? why?"
Partially because after their three worst albums TPS came back really strong, but because of this "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that." I'm more interested in it.
