@Johnfire - The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was one of the most religiously tolerant nations in Europe. For example, while most of Europe persecuted the Jews the P-L commonwealth provided them refuge. A primary example would be King Sigismund offering Spanish jews refuge during the Spanish inquisition.
In 1760, before the first partition of the PLC, 80-85% of the world's Jewish population was within its borders.
A secondary example would be the PLC's stance during the 30 years war. The PLC was largely neutral in the conflict apart from defensive action. Unlike the main belligerants in the 30 years war Poland did not seek to attack a certain religion and did not oppress either the Protestants nor the Catholics. Peoples as a whole were free to choose their religion.
The PLC also included several muslim communities largely composed of Tatars from the Crimea and deserters/prisoners from the Ottoman empire.
In the PLC, the only person who required affiliation with any religion was the elected King. The King had to be Roman Catholic.
The religious tolerance practiced by the PLC is the opposite of the current attitude of the Poles.

It's not that Polish is religiously intolerant. They are just intolerant of people who criticize the Catholic church because "religious offense" is an actual crime. It is a somewhat archaic law though and it will probably be out the door in the near future.

@Jari: You are correct, however, the review states "independent state", the PLC obviously was obviously comprised of Poland and Lithuania, therefore was not Poland as an independent state. That, to me, describes Poland from 1918 onwards, which, especially after WWII, is not a country that I would describe as thriving on religious tolerance :P While Radio Maryja is popular, anything that is not christian is frowned upon, incuding Judaism and Atheism.
@Zippa: Sadly, Poland is most likely the most islamophobic country within the EU. As mentioned above, all non-Christian beliefs are frowned upon, as well as Atheism. Now that a Kaczynski dictatorship is imminent, the already immense power of the catholic church will increase even more. That law will actually gain in importance as shown right now with a theater play in Craców about to be cancelled, for "indecency".
Back to topic: Will check this out, just because the cover reminds me of OM and they have religious chanting as well.

"Sadly, Poland is most likely the most islamophobic country within the EU."
Maybe in the EU, but they don't have shit on Serbia.
Also I agree with the Om thing. They're kind of like a blackened, evil version of Om.
