their latest album is their most successful yet and has netted them more sales, bigger tours, and overall raised their profile way above what it was. not to mention there are a bunch of stylistically adjacent bands like Fit for a King, Wage War, and Crystal Lake enjoying similar success. this sound isn't dying, it's evolving. what you want is regression.

Not sure if I'd call Wage War all that "stylistically adjacent" as I feel they're a symptom of the issue I've had with the newer scene, but I suppose there's enough similarities to make sense.
and tbh what I want is for bands to bring back the six-string guitars and write engaging riffs from there before tuning it down to where they want.

Wage War, FFAK and INK all use six string guitars still.

Wage War just tunes them down almost a full octave, yea
FFAK at least makes that low shit work, almost as well as Architects.

Yeah I love how every Architects riff is exactly the same

lol, a lot of their riffs are pretty similar, but it's easy to forgive when they create such a compelling atmosphere on songs like Memento Mori. Of course there's also Hollow Crown, which has been growing on me a lot aside from the opener.

After finally giving this a shot, I find this more consistent than the Silver Scream... but the Silver Scream has higher highs imo

Couldn't really get into this one outside of a few songs

Tess-Timony rules. Just finished reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles, the novel that the song is based off of.

I used a shitty pun in the summary of my first review too, thought I was so clever, lol...

Still need to check out some of INK's earlier work, but this one reigns supreme as my favourite. Almost every song is a banger.

Might like this a bit more than Predator. The heavier parts are reminding me more of a ABR/Oh Sleeper-ish vibe than prev
