It's astonishing how they manage to create such consistently interesting music; the freedom offered by the Internet age (and independant labels such as Kscope) certainly has a role to play in all this.
Demon has to stay my favourite from them, but I think this is a tie with Tick Tock and Night for me, and certainly their most accomplished album built around shorter songs. As much as I love their epics, I think it was a wise creative choice to come back to a different structure for this record, especially since they didn't sacrifice any part of their identity in the process.
This might turn into a 4.5 at some point; it's not the monolith Demon was, but after a few listens on headphones all the parts end up creating a massive and moving whole.

So is the general consensus that Demon is their best? This is my first exposure to the group and I want to hear more

Night not Demon to start

Demon is my personal favourite, but I would say Night is the optimal introduction to the band's discog. Then, from Night, going chronologically would be the most rewarding option I think.

I dig every individual songs here. My least favorites are ''The Master's Voice'' and ''Bela Kiss'', the second and third ones, and so it kinda breaks the flow of the album. The former is an easy going ballad that has not much to offer, and it's too much linear. The latter is an unusual kind of song in their catalogue; An upbeat honky tonk song that is well done, but it seems out of place here.

I feel like I'm on the edge for falling for these guys. I love their music and I'm one step behind from listening to all their discography like I've nevcer listened to musicv before. Soon.

^Nice project. If I'd do so, I'd start right after ''Tick Tock'', cos all like ''Night'', I know it by heart (they're my 2 favorites) Then I'd return to their debut Bravo until I reach Firebird.

The second half of the album is clearly stronger to me. Most of it's first half can give a wrong impression to the album as a whole.

Ohme is a brilliant singer; this is certainly one of his strongest and most expressive vocal performances in my opinion. It stays behind Demon on that aspect too, but still

Vocalist is not improving, he's just doing the same quality of work again and again since day one. One thing is sure: his warm vocals fit well in that light, spacey kind of music. Long live Ohme!

After several listens, I can say my 4 is a little one. It's more like a 3.75 that could be changed only by a 3.5 over time.

After repeated listens on headphones, I realize Choir of Ancestors is among the most beautiful songs they've written in my opinion. The moment as the women voices enter sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. There's incredible wonder and emotion in the song's chorus; that applies to Alarm as well

There's still some unsatisfying moments, but there's a lot more depth to the whole album - and to the individual songs - than I initially thought.
