This site seems obsessed with putting a black metal label on endless bands that aren't black metal bands. It's like it makes it more cool or something to do so. This and some of the other releases on the top 2015 BM releases have no place there. Thankful sites like rateyourmusic and metal-archives don't do that. Not saying this release or band is bad, but when I pull up best of 2015 BLACK METAL I want to see actual black metal bands. Not bands like this, Ne Obliviscaris, etc etc

This isn't black metal but it has a blackened influence. If it rustles your jimmies that badly go to those sites

It's more sludge than black metal if anything, but it's mainly just hardcore punk.
And someone tell Skele to stop with the alts.

Skele is still alive?

Finally got around to playing this album. So glad I did before my end of the year list. This thing is a monster.

I actually have problems at determining the genre of the album too. That emo tag confused me more than clarifying anything

it's pretty easy to just call this "metalcore". there's some crust, sludge, and skramz influences; maybe a bit of bm, post-hardcore, and post-metal thrown in too. on last.fm they call this kinda thing "dark hardcore" or "neocrust".

Dark hardcore works.

so is neo-crust a thing? I have already read the term associated to the first album of Fall of Efrafa, but it is still quite obscure

i know tons of bands play in that style (especially recently) but i dunno whether it's unique enough to be given its own subgenre
