I like Guns of Summer, not the best song sure but I thought it was one of the better songs on Black Rainbow.

I guess I'll be the one nerd who actually loves the concept. With YOTBR I felt like the story wasn't the best. Especially towards the second half, each song is basically "oh man what have I done?" If each song had been unique like on the first half it would have been a killer album but for me, because the concept was lacking, I wasn't as drawn into the record as I was to some of the others.

From a music standpoint I really do love the damn thing but it just doesn't hold up when compared to the story of the others.

I've never really been a fan of the story behind Coheed to begin with. Tried reading the comics and couldn't get into em. And I read a lot of comics. I find the Amory Wars kind've interesting but not really my cup of tea.

I do like the idea that Coheed's body of work is based around a sci fi narrative tho. That's always intrigued me.

guns of summer was coheed going "hey guys Chris pennie is our drummer now let's make this super complex technical song just for the hell of it" and it's gaaaaaaarbo

I mean you can't have Chris in the band and not at least attempt something like that.

That's a pretty exaggerated reaction for a mediocre album

I don't think it's bad. I don't think it's anywhere near their best, but to be honest, I don't expect them to reach those heights again.

Naw I think they're still putting out good shit. I feel like after this album the next one they release will be one of their best. I truly believe that Claudio just needed to get this album out of his system. It was the one he felt inspired to write and I've said it before but I would rather have an inspired album in a different direction than a forced album for the sake of doing what the fans want.

imo Coheed has never made an outright bad album. I'm all about world of lines and jugger but yeah the production on YOTBR really brings it down for me. The guitar riffs are crucial to their sound and they sound bad on that album. And yeah BeyondCosby I'm hoping for something that stands up with their first three records but I doubt we'll get that.
