"Is that the secret solo project by Bryan Adams where he doesn't want anyone to know it's him so he chose an undercover name?"

Stop

I love that this is getting better reviews than the original so far, even though this is (imo) definitely not better.

It's great in its own right, but saying it's better is hard given that it's a cover album.

@klap: re Clean, Adams's version is solid but it isn't the masterpiece of the original version. The original is the kind of closing track that makes you reevaluate the quality of what came before it because it is just so great and leaves the listener with a perfect feeling.

Since I love the original and listened to it first that heavily decided my opinion on this; T-swift's version is so upbeat and cheerful most of the time, so I found myself listening to this going "why the fuck are these songs so sad"

That said, Wildest Dreams is really good, but it's the only one I love

I like projects like this quite a bit. Covers rarely have staying power, but I love ones that extend the original material like this album does.

well, it's a complete album and he's apparently marketing it like crazy

I don't know that I would say he's been marketing it like crazy. He just posted updates about it on his Twitter feed, which many artists might do for a project like this. If anything, Taylor Swift has been publicizing this more. It was her initial enthusiasm about the project that the media focused on, and she continued posting about it up until it came out.

I actually agree with ten seconds...It feels weird to me mainly because I rarely see big artists doing an entire cover album, let alone adding a price tag to it. If this was a free album I wouldn't have such a funny feeling about it.

But hey, maybe this happens more than I think and I'm just an idiot

Hmmm maybe because you actually like both the Taylor Swift album and Ryan Adams (unlike all the internet sites that pretended to like Ryan Adams so they could sound hip when the project was announced)?
