Poison Season is a good place to go after Kapputt if you want something more familiar.

Kaputt with more indie rockish nature: Destroyer's Rubies
if you really enjoy the poetry and lyrical aspects: Streethawk
if you like the boisterous, cheesy instrumentation: Your Blues

Love Dan Bejar so much. I think this is album is great but I still need a proper reunion with it because it never fully clicked

i liked Kaputt but it wasnt amazing to me. this is just fantastic though. i checked some songs from Streethawk because its the highest rated album here, but i didnt dig at all. seems like the more bells and whistles he uses, the more i like his music. so based on that, which albums should i listen to?

Sounds like this is going to be the one for you but maybe he'll carry on in this direction on the next album. The new song 'My Mystery' is similar to this and maybe you'll find the EP 'Five Spanish Songs' cool because that's got a lot going on (plus Bejar sings in Spanish as you'd guess)

Digging this on first couple spins, feels like it will be a grower as most other Destroyer albums have been.

This one might get a rating bump too, it’s pretty dense so should reveal more layers and I haven’t even really dig into the lyrics yet.

I really like the use of live strings here - I’d always seen Destroyer labelled “chamber pop” so this is more the sound I expected from them all along.

Bumping this to a five. Seriously, this needs some more love. It's flawless.

Am I the only one who doesn't like his voice but thinks it fits the music really well?

Enjoying this. I can hear why publications praised it, very eclectic, nuanced, and comfy.

Yeah this one is amazing. Out of all of his records I think this is the one (and probably Rubies too) where he sounds like he's having the most fun with it. His others are very cohesive and uniform, which are their strengths of course.
