the ballads and melodies are what sell this album agreed.

The second spin is going definitely better than the first, actually I now like Never Again because the chorus' riff has a cool melody. In general guitars here are pretty entertaining for what they are.

Totally, instrumentation can be generic but saying this band has no particular traits is just stupid.

Ben is arguably one of the best vocalists in mainstream rock

ehh I'm not 100% sure I would put Barnes in the "best" category but he is one of the better ones.

I would put Pete Loeffler and Jesse Hasek on top though

I have really low knowledge of the genre, Breaking Benjamin is the only radio rock band that I genuinely like to listen to on repeat and have endured the test of time, but to me Burnley is a damn good vocalist.

Chevelle and 10 Years (in that order)

Maybe Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge as well put some people find him annoying though.

@Sabrutin Check Foo Fighters if you haven't. Radio friendly yet kick ass.

Haha I've been through my Foo Fighters phase, and I even enjoyed Echoes, but I just don't feel the urge to jam them.

I'll always jam Sonic Highways and Wasting Light every now and then. Still need to check out Color and Shape and s/t though.

Not only is it #1 on the charts which is an impressive feat, it's also their highest first week sales ever as well. I think that's pretty amazing for a) a rock band in 2015, and b) a band whose been on a 4 year hiatus no less.

I've listened to this album maybe 10 times now (Because I was a BB fan growing up and now I really like them because of the nostalgia and whatnot) and I'm really starting to like it more. At first I tought it was meh but now it's great! Favorite track IMO : Failure, Hollow, The Great Divide, Ashes of Eden and Defeated. (Defeated is actually one of my favorite, not sure why people don't really seem to like it here)

ps: English is second language.
