Completely agree. SS is very underrated, but it definitely doesn't have the production these geniuses deserve.

tru, I heard a few tracks suffered from audio glitches wherein the volume was a lot lower than it was meant to be, but still it's the first Arc album I heard around the time it came out
i think it's good that all their albums tried to do their own thing! a cold, spacier-sounding approach akin to what made LMI so appealing was niiice, even with the change in vocalists

I am warming up to this a little bit more though, in all fairness. A great deal more in your face with the prog metal elements that works quite well in some instances, but too theatric even for Arcturus' standards in others. Fuck it, a 3.5 feels just about right (might as well take threading the common threads together all the way eh eh?)
Really astonished that in this decade, an album from them even managed to come out.
