i can't even listen to this album anymore. it honestly makes me way too sad

Funny you should say that because even the sad parts are some of the most beautiful moments I've ever heard so it oddly enough puts a huge smile on my face. Seeing the positive in the negative and all that.

yeah a lot of this is sad in a happy way - like songs i could imagine playing in the background during a long-awaited reunion or something

I don't get why this comes across as sad. The only track I really find sad on this is the closer. There are a number of songs on every Hammock album that follows (except Sleepover 2) that sound significantly more depressing than the songs on this.
That's how I hear it, anyway ;)

i'm sure looking at it objectively you can understand why someone would think this is a pretty sad album. most of hammock's music could be characterized as sad, even the stuff that's uplifting, like 10,000 years, is sort of melancholic.

it depends on your headspace too, as well as me having different memories associated with it than you

True; and also the song titles kind of hint at depressing themes even for the more uplifting tracks. Some examples are Will You Ever Love Yourself? and The Air Between Us

The lines between depressive and uplifting really blur here. This whole thing has such an evocative sound. It's songs like Stars In The Rearview Mirror that makes me wonder why this does have thousands of ratings and like a 4.3 average

i don't even remember the track titles on this apart from a few of them. i just jam it and let the feels hit me

Album is bittersweet. So good but I'd never listen to this when going through rough times, it'd probably destroy me.
