^Yeah. I don't know why I forget how awesome this is, but I'm always happy when I return to it.

Manly folk metal for people who avoid bands like Crapiklaani, Alestorm, Crapfest, etc etc.

Jammed this again, still really like it, but feel like it's missing something that gives it that extra punch. Not really sure what it is, but solid album nonetheless. m/

I feel what you mean Hawks. I dig the atmosphere a lot and the guitar tones/interludes are great. Vocals as well. But I don't think the riffs are really good enough for me to spin it a lot.

It just passes me by a bit by the end.

Yea, same deal here. One of those records that is excellent on the first spin and does a good job of hiding its cracks beneath moments of awesome. Still really enjoy the album, but it isn't quite the spectacle it was the first time I listened to it.

Agreed. I don't know what it is, but something is preventing me from upping this a .5

While at the Fire in the Mountains festival, I was talking to Austin Lunn of Panopticon. He'a apparently heard the new Obsequiae record and insists it's the best thing Tanner's ever done. Been spinning this and Brume again in anticipation, still rips.

I was just jamming the first two in preparation. I'm not mentally ready. I didn't think I'd be able to listen today! But I'm going in anyway!!
