Arcade is definitely the contributing reviewer that best represents my need for large concepts to be represented by small, concise, and digestible reports. Oh, and the relatable existential dread too!

"

Yeah and when jazz in 2015 is a list this long, it's hard to think many people really have a hold on it: http://www.tomhull.com/ocston/nm/m2015.php?gs=J"

you could say that about any genre really. To me "AOTY" always just means someone's personal favorite. I think I listened to about 9 new jazz albums this year and this is my favorite of them; However, obviously I'm only scratching the surface of jazz as a whole this year. But, I listen to other genres and literally no one can keep up with all of that. Yes, I respect peoples' opinion who do keep their finger on the pulse as much as possible, so I get your point. Just providing a different perspective.

I guess it's a where-do-you-draw-the-line type of thing. I think it's fair to at least be up-to-speed on a genre before claiming one album to be its pinnacle for an entire year but I guess w/e

I can definitely agree with that. I think it is a where-do-you-draw-the-line thing. And honestly, I don't know. I try and keep up with music as much as possible (as do most people who frequent this site I'm sure) and consume a probably unhealthy amount of music each year and even then I know that I still barely scratch the surface of all the genres I like each year.

maybe that came across wrong. I meant users as a whole here are probably consuming music at a much higher rate than the general public, and even then I doubt many are seriously digesting as many albums from a single genre each year as that man's jazz list. That's all.

That list did give me a great reference point for a bunch of other albums to check out though.
