there are some killer choruses on here. Like Daenerys (which talking about this album will finally force me to spell correct instead of just saying "Dany"), which is one of the better tracks on the record anyway

Adding a nice chorus here and there doesn't make you a better songwriter. Half of the tracks are so linear, agreed. Singles were a 'good' mix up of old and new but boy some of the tracks here are either Periphery worships or bland chug chugs.
And we're talking about guys that know how to shred. Guys that delivered two of the funniest deathcore discs ever, guys that made a tasty riff out of a dude complaining on Youtube, mixing uneven time signatures all over the place in their breakdowns.. Not an average mallcore band. They were pack leaders for fuck sake and they played it so safe here aside from a few tracks that's why everybody is disappointed.
EE: oooh jesus christ man there's a song that gave me MK Ultra dejavus, they even 'stole' the IDM interludes lol. This record reeks of modern day Periphery so bad (Ellie, Daeneyrys). Oh, and Born of Osiris and Volumes too which is two bands everybody should avoid taking inspiration from
This disc just looks backward, fuck the clean vocals if the only way they came out to use them is by copying shit already wrote by someone else

went through high school listening to this band, i'm not disappointed at all...i'd be more so if this was material centered around Subject Zero. they delivered a nice product three times in a row with the same kind of deal, got a new vocalist, and headed in a new direction while keeping the main elements that define them. sure, it's a "technical deathcore" album like the others were, but then again, it's sure not trying to be one.

I thought Mikasa was okay at first but then it wore out fast. There really isn't anything on here that's memorable.

"@game of metal In the first paragraph I mention literally right after the phrase you bring up how the change in pitch is nothing compared to the clean singing that Lukas brings us. Maybe I should be clearer that I'm still talking about Lukas?
EDIT: welp, I skimmed your comment so I didn't realize that you were talking about skimming my review. No wonder you didn't see the part where I actually talked about the important stuff haha"
ah, oops, yeah I was tired last night and checked the review before I went to bed so that's why
I like the homage to Game of Thrones with the track being titled "Daenarys" but they're probably the wrong band to do it.

They did a track called "Winter is Coming" on their last album.
Also, the tracklist is non-existent. Just wanted to point that out.

Yeah that was cool I guess
I never read their lyrics so idk if the songs are actually related to the titles or if it's just one of those "reference titles"

I do like the song title theme after reading what they said in the article that includes the stream. The bit about each being the name of a strong female character in literature or history or whatever. Explains why "Daenarys" and "Mikasa" are there.

There's a lot more bands i loved in late middle school that still put shit out than I thought, damn

I liked [id] and Eclipse so I'm kinda scared to listen to this
|
| |
I never really connected with this band all that much but shit this is so disappointing. Mikasa is the only song I liked
