Review Summary: And now for something completely different. A "good" different.

“I’m traveling through hazy forests and feverish, dark passages.
Every step I’m taking tilts my head back and forth, filled with dizzying thoughts.
A breeze of understanding and comfort fills my mouth with pleasant tastes of delicious red wines from faraway lands.
Her voice rings true, it sounds a bit like a psychotic angel.
She cradles me, leads me through those dark passages, through those hazy forests.
Lays me down, on the ground.
I’m home.”

This piece I wrote listening whilst listening to the first EP from the psychedelic pop band: The Mysterons. Just like my poem/piece, this EP is not something you’ll immediately grasp nor will understand. It’s a bit of music that’s different. It’s a little bit of Portishead, a dash of Jefferson Airplane and a whole lot of personality. This goes for the instrumentation, the production and, most of all, for the lyrics.

The music itself is solid, you can hear that the musicians know their way around their instruments. They blend genres together seamlessly, with twists and turns around every corner. Although their 70’s inspired tunes are always apparent throughout every song. The Hammond organ helps a great deal in achieving this, but the sound of the guitars are equally pleasing.

You can hear that the band members are no strangers to the studio. The production on this is excellent, if not damn-near perfect. Every instruments gets to shine, nothing gets watered down. It’s a perfect balance for this kind of music.
So if you want something different for a change, a band that’s not here nor there, try The Mysterons.

You’ll be grateful you did.
