"I feel like these guys scream because that's the genre, so we have to include it or people won't buy our Hot Topic T's."
Come on.

I'm listening if you feel like making a point

I mean everyone has a genre and a niche they fill, I'm not necessarily knocking it, just saying it isn't for me.

This album has got some significant sparkle factor to it.
Liking it a fair amount more than I anticipated. Tilian's lyrical choices still bug me though, no surprise there.

Yeah may be youve just outgrown it
We dont have Hot Topic over here in the uk so ive always been a bit confused when it comes up
What is it like some shop that caters to teens into rise records like stuff and general post hardcore?
|

That's exactly what it is
I bought a Brand New shirt there when I was 18 so I'm definitely not claiming to be above it, however.

Album sounds much better on vinyl than it did listening to it through youtube. definite mistake listening to it the first time around through a poor quality medium.

of all the bands out there with tacked on screaming 'because it applies to the genre' DGD is probably the weakest example of that

so because dogshit such as asking alexandria exists, we should therefore take it easy on dgd.
makes sense bruh

DGD has been doing it for years. I highly doubt they're doing it to apply to the genre. Extremely similar to Alexisonfire. It's how the band started. They wanted screaming vocals and singing vocals, and have continued to do so throughout their career.

what kind of shitty comparison is that
george petit is a beast. powerful vocalist who writes good lyrics.
jon mess is just a guy who writes shit that is intentionally nonsensical and occasionally makes a cool inflection when he vomits on the microphone

hopefully this will hit spotify soon

Boy but you're missing the point of what he said
Regardless of lyrical content, both bands have made a particular style of music since their inception. So chances are they are still doing it because they want to

isn't that what All That Remains said and yet they still got shit for it anyways? :P

"

nah i just felt like expressing the difference in quality between the two
and regardless, alexis has actually implemented more ambience into their sound over time and displayed a tangible progression and maturity. they havent been as consistently samey as dgd has.

"george petit is a beast. powerful vocalist who writes good lyrics."
Alexisonfire's first album had comparably non-sensical screaming vocals, same as DGD's. Then Geoge decided to be more transparent in what he was saying. Didn't always work out the best:
"Hey kids there's a new white devil,
And it goes in your fucking nose.
Hey kids we got a new white devil,
here's how the story goes."
This is opposite of self-titled, with lyrics such as:
"Boxes of cats,
People with Taz tattoos,
Explosive personalities,
Self-centeredness,
Protractor from your new geometry set,
Inability to do math,
Geography.
Polaroids
Of polar bears."
"jon mess is just a guy who writes shit that is intentionally nonsensical"
Back this statement up.
DGD have shown a progression in their sound, and whether it's more mature or not is completely subjective. They've included more genre influences, and experimented musically several times, including tracks like Demo Team, the majority of the second half of their album "Happiness," and significant portion of their self-titled album. While their experimentation has slowed in recent albums (can't speak for newest cuz I haven't listened to it enough yet), I believe that is because they've finally found a niche. Overall though, their sound commenced as urgent and frantic, and has since moved to a more vibrant, groovy quality. With Tilian, I think they're trying to find the best of both worlds.
"Regardless of lyrical content, both bands have made a particular style of music since their inception. So chances are they are still doing it because they want to"
Thank you Omaha, that is exactly the point I was trying to make in the first place.

@Omaha Glad to see you are enjoying this.
Also, a surprising amount of Jon's lyrics on this are actually quite meaningful, and coincide with Tilian's passages really well (more so than in other recent albums).
