169 votes and still a 4.1? I'm surprised

Ditto. Didn't think it was nearly that good, but glad to see other people digging it

It will drop to like a high 3. Something in time. Maybe lower

I know for sure some causal listeners of Dance Gavin Dance haven't heard the album, and some haven't spoiled themselves with the online stream.

I love this album so much. Variation and Awkward are both incredibly good imo.

Ah, nostalgia. It feels like just yesterday that I opened up sputnik and saw this synopsis for DGD's Acceptance Speech on the front page.

"Review Summary: The white-trash Circa Survive returns with a shit-tier classic for the ages."

I saw this band years ago for a concert being headlined by Emery (who I loved at the time) and DGD blew every other band out of the water. The guitar playing was on point and the energy brought to the crowd from Mess and Tillian was vibrant. A concert not to be forgotten...

I'm excited to listen to this. Wasn't super into Acceptance Speech.

@WhiteTie The intensity you probably experienced at that show is much better represented on this album versus "Acceptance Speech."

I've seen them three times with Tilian in the band and they're always on point live. The Acceptance Speech songs sound so much better live than on the album.

The Acceptance Speech songs sound so much better live than on the album. [2]

I remember when they first played "Jesus H. Macy" live (recorded in 360p) which was the first new song with Tilian, I ripped it from a live video out of excitement... I was so let down when that version was borderline better vocally, with better instrumental mixing than the album recording itself.

The last 30 seconds of On The Run is such a good outro.

Lyrically it sorta reminds me of Tides of Man, at least Tilian's parts

I came up with this for the new album. I Owned The Night, While My Shark Dad was acting Awkward.
