oh sweet, so there are other fans of cloudz on this site! :P

if you liked impersonator i'm sure you'll like this one. i'm writing a review on it right now, actually. the thing i love about are you alone (and cloudz in general) is how interactive the experience is - about how the simplicity and candidness of what's being stated makes the listener look inwards. i feel very much like the recipient of a deep conversation at times, one that expresses loss and insecurities and regrets, but also of love and friendship and humility. but i'm getting ahead of myself here lol.

Wouldn't say a huge fan yet, I liked Impersonator but definitely had highlights and less incredible tunes.

Do you rate the new one more highly?

i would say they're almost equal, but i might prefer the newest if only because i played impersonator to death. you should take a listen asap!

it sucks yeah this is vastly superior

always thought sufjan was more inclined to do this type of stuff, his early electronic records (especially the debut) also suck imo

i haven't listened to this but if i wanted a minimalist folk record, i would just listen to nick drake.

i mean thats sorta silly because theres plenty of artists who play the style well

furthermore, only one nick drake release could classify as minimalist folk (pink Moon) and while its prolly one of the best albums ever, A. his other two releases are heavily orchestrated and B. theres plentyyyy of great songwriters who play that style well
