I'm so pissed I didn't get tickets for his gig near me the other day, although I got a friend to buy me a shirt. Still my number 1 so far this year. And you're not alone I'm still regularly listening aswell.

wearing a sufjan shirt is pretty much the equivalent of wearing a sign on your head that says "fragile"

loved this a lot at first but I hardly ever listen to it anymore. I'd take Michigan, Seven Swans, and Illinois over this by a decent margin. live versions of this stuff were amazing tho.

seven swans is his only album that challenges this

Still think this is the album that plays most to his strengths. 'No Shade in the Shadow...' is the song that sums up his sound best, it's perfect, if someone asked 'what does Sufjan sound like?' that or 'To Be Alone with You' are what I'd play them first.

can't really see that at all given his discography as a whole. song is so stripped down and when i think sufjan my first thought isn't really "minimal."

Melodies stay the same whatever the bells and whistles added on top, and the stripped down stuff is what comes across as natural for me
