i can understand the senitment because this is something that most people would have to work to like but yeah, everyone's opinion is valid. particularly since these guys are often cited as a gateway band in the genre

Meant to say not popular lol. But seriously, it's like saying someone with no background for industrial can rate a Nine Inch Nails album appropriately.
|
| |
that comparison doesn't make any sense
Nine Inch Nails is a very watered down version of industrial specifically catered to fans that probably don't have a background in such
I was replying to all the people that are subtly criticizing this album by saying "where are the build-ups??" and thereby looking for things that GY!BE obviously wasn't trying to do
by misunderstanding what the goal was, people go "oh this is stale and boring because the band was trying to make post-rock music that I'm familiar with and this obviously doesn't have enough crescendos!"
it's perfectly fine to dislike this release (and there are different, valid reasons for doing so) but I'm saying that a lot of users should understand better that this is why they dislike it, their lack of context

Sea, you know that if something isn't likable it must be because it doesn't live up to our superior taste. I want this, I want it for free, and I want it now.

what
|
| |
I'm saying I'm surrounded by shallow, cheap dweebs
|
| |
I can't tell if you're being sarcastically or if you're backhandedly insulting me or something but either way yeah agreed
|
| |
nah sea you're easily a 2nd or 3rd tier user here out of 8 total tiers
anyone who joined after '12 is automatically tier 6 or lower until such a time where the userbase gets worse. but even then I just might add more tiers. it may take 10 to get the job done in the future.

still on about those tiers huh
you could probably narrow it down to like 4
|
| |
if tiers were subgenres most users here now would be deathcore

I guess I see what you mean, guess I'll see if I can find something I like in the first three tracks again.
|
| |
like I said, it's totally fine that people don't like it
and there are other very valid reason to dislike this I'm sure (I don't think I've seen made all that clear yet, though?)
but the top answer I'm seeing so far is "I don't like or understand drone and am not willing to admit it!"
|
| |
Drone music typically emphasizes a single sustained note, chord, or simply a repeated sound such as a spoken word or utterance. It is often very minimal and tracks can be quite lengthy, emphasizing major and minor harmonic variations emitted from these drones over a period of time.

Just to clear it up for all you shitheads.

gatekeepers of drone itt
finally listened and tbh the middle two tracks are my favourite
|
| |
not really
I mean the sad part is that I have relatively minimal knowledge of drone and still know more than enough to wrongly complain about this smh
|
| |
"I have relatively minimal knowledge of drone"
see, i don't believe having 'knowledge' of a genre matters when it comes to simply interpreting/appreciating what you're hearing. idk, i think getting hung up on background info is kinda restrictive, especially for something like this - explore it an your own leisure

agreed with johnny

"i don't believe having 'knowledge' of a genre matters when it comes to simply interpreting"
how much of this don't you believe in, and how far would you back this belief up?
|

It does when you say you don't like an album because of what it is instead of how it's performed.
