To each his own, I just think for a lot of people it's just the result of being worn down. Of course F#A# is in a league of its own, but if this album followed that one I think people would be more impacted by it than they are with it standing as their 5th post-rock full-length.

For me personally it's their 3rd best, but I haven't rated Skinny Fists because I only listened to it a couple times over 3 years ago. Slow Riot and F#A# are both better.

ive jammed f# and skinny fists many times, two of my most played albums ever (good ambient music and study music when i was in uni)
not sure why i overlooked slow riot if it's so praised, i'll jam it today

I've listened like 5 times. don't have any ~favorite moments~ or anything like that yet
but this seems like an obvious extension of Allelujah
and I think people are mistaking that "obvious extension" part for "obvious" when in fact they still have a really unique sound
and they fucking own it imo
there's a few directions I wish they would have taken, differently
like omg more guitars and doom/stoner whatever from the first track could have given the most amazing LP
the drone tracks are... iffy... I like that, conceptually, they're embracing that aesthetic. kinda imploding from within into nothingness as opposed to the grandiose buildups they popularized. but Godspeed just doesn't make as engaging drone pieces as many other artists. they'll always be intermissions and never centerpieces.
I really like the first track, and the last one is great too; and I really like this record overall.

this release isn't all that exciting thematically [but ugh fuck the people that think this is boring because they've already heard Behemoth; like oh plz that sounds like a personal problem honey] but its execution and aesthetic and stuff are still top-notch. I like that it's so short and I can see myself listening to it more than Allelujah in the future, even though I miss the Middle Eastern vibes.

also it's absolutely bizarre to me how good this is and it still might be out of my top 5 of this year already?!

This has really grown on me the past 2 days. It' such an easy listen, being 40 minutes and divided into basically 3 parts. Really digestible. Tempted to just put it on repeat.

Wish I could say the same. Nonetheless, I'll continue listening.

what do you find so much worse about this than Don't Bend?

See the last page bro. It ultimately sounds significantly more lifeless and one dimensional compared to their others. Plus, they used the drones a lot less, and much better, on Don't Bend for me.
