I will say that I like this album mainly for the production and not for kendrick's verses as much, but it's not like his verses are bad or even just good, the quality of his verses is remarkably solid throughout. In my favorite music at least, the vocals should serve as an accompaniment to the production instead of being the only centerpiece of the track. This is a rap album for fans of good music, not necessarily fans of good rap.

Noler, I agree with most of what you said. I enjoy the production on this album; in fact, it's my favorite part of it. Kendrick's lyrical presence is good throughout though I don't think he has any standout moments unlike on previous albums. I can appreciate where you're coming from; hip hop/rap isn't my first choice of music although I thoroughly enjoy a lot of 90s (Big L, Nas, Gang Starr, Aesop, Mos Def.) While those artists had amazing production work done on their albums (Maybe not Aesop as much as the others) I feel like their lyrical presence really carried their music to another level; a level that I simply don't think Kendrick comes close to here.

It is but forget about the TPAB sound, people are drawing parallels to it being like GKMCs Backseat Freestyle

honestly kinda sucks, beat is basically trash, album won't be close to tpab or gkmc if he follows this trend...

Something will happen to it, it'll work within the context of the album. He's done this before with I and Backseat Freestyle.

I feel like most of the songs on here are good but it doesn't work so well on an album.

Humble type songs are what i listen to Kendrick for

This album did nothing for me, GKMC was full of bangers. Hoping the fourth album follows that path
