sometimes things can just be what they are. never on this site, but in the rest of the world.
I totally agree with this (the first part), and part of the reason I gave this a 3.2/5 (which I use as a score given to an album which is good, if not great) is because Caligo is still an enjoyable album regardless of how bland it feels. That being said, if I had an hour or two and could listen to this or any of the other really exciting DnB of the past couple years (including neurofunk), I'd almost certainly choose something else. It is what it is, I guess, and I appreciate it for its consistency, but it's not exciting in the same way that so much else is

just glad to see Spor back, but this is definitely underwhelming
would rather see him focus on this project than feed me

I think the main problem I have with this album is that it's very same-y. And I don't think it's awful by any means, Deviant.

Well, cool?

It's a style of drum & bass music
sounds dreadful tbh

came here to say: spor's remix of that girl continues to rock my mind

dat tempo change tho. beastly.
i like the new album, and i disagree with a lot of this review. a lot of the material sounds like he's not trying to just develop the sound he owned five+ years ago. reading the "liner notes," he says out and out he made this album to sound exactly the way he wanted. that, in itself, when dude knows he can roll out dancefloor smashers, makes the thing a worthwhile listen.

Not if you don't fall into the particular audience he clearly made this album for. Because it clearly wasn't for the same audience who got behind 'Judderman'

There's definitely a few shit moments throughout the album, regardless of audience pandering or lack thereof. Like Clockwork and Empire in particular come to mind.
I still think it's a solid release though, especially with the current state of mainstream dnb where it is, with producers like netsky and brookes bros releasing absolute shit. Not saying Spor's music is like those guys, but he definitely is a bigger name. Like, if this is a sort of gateway album that gets people into neuro or heavier dnb, I'm all for that.

Some "Breathe In, Scream Out" vibes wouldn't have done any harm as well.

>This guy used to make good dnb, Supernova is his best ep prob, all tracks rule on this one
supernova is shockingly good for how accessible it is but id still give "best" to haunt me/brickbeats or judderman/the whisper
