While Godsmack don't branch out much, I still dig it. I don't know about the 5 rating though.

they put mediocre songs with the excellent songs. why not spend a few extra months or even a year and make each song awesome?

songs like temptation, voodoo two, mama, one rainy day, shine down and hollow shouldn't have been with the others. yeah they went deeper and pulled more out on this album but not enough. they wanted this to be thier "black album" but they aren't quite there yet...almost.

it's not the same as the other albums...feels closer to the other side ep to me...so that is good...still it just could have been better.

Hell, I’m a big fan of Godsmack, but this album isn't one of my favorites.

Frankly, the instrumental part is great, but the lyrics are awful, they have no sense and maybe I don't know much, but this album sounds like a copy of Mettalica, and not a good one. why in the name of god did they have to change their style, they were great, but now it's like they had enough of it; wake up guys and try to do a better job, maybe the next album will sound more like Godsmack...you're great, but try not to ruin this and be a bit more carefully with the next album. Good luck

And by the way, I gave a 2.5, maybe a 3 This Message Edited On 03.12.07This Message Edited On 03.12.07

I thought this album was a huge step down from any of Godsmack's previous material. It's very repetitive and has little replay value. But that was a pretty good review, especially for a first.

This is Godsmacks best album...I love the diversity that albums like Faceless lacked.

Well, it is true that Godsmack sounds incredible live (watch the 'Changes' DVD) but they keep the same sound they've always had which is both a good and a bad thing. Its good because they're sticking to their old stuff and they won't get sucked into the blackhole genre that is Pop. But it's bad because their music starts to get repetitive and uninteresting to the point where you could listen to your iPod with your headphones off and still hear the same thing. Well, until the song 'Hollow' comes in which sounds completely different with the same old vocals.

A 5?

Are you fucking serious?

Get the fuck outta here?

Also, why the hell does Godsmack in every fucking goddamn song have to have a "slow" sounding chorus?

Do you guys know what I'm talking about.

Fuck Sully Erna and his almost as ridiculous as Scott Stapp melodramatic shit voice.

I don't like Sully's production. Faceless was produced by David Botrill (Aenima, The End of All Things to Come, etc.), and that's why it's Godsmack's best album. The sound on this record is just not too good. The guitar sound thin, as if Robbie is playin a 15-watt amp. Also, I enjoyed when Godsmack used to leave some parts as intrumental. In IV Sully just won't shut up, unless Robbie is soloing, and sometimes not even then!

Review smacks of fanboyism. Reviews are meant to be subjective...

My problem with the album is that the lead singer is trying to channel Hetfield. The whole album comes off as a Noughties-Metallica-rip-off, and why would anyone do that??

Nothing different is going on in this album - its the same shit from beginning to end. Might be ok for some but I need a bit of SOMETHING interesting going on besides blaaaandness.

Its not necessarily a bad album, but its not a particularly good one either.

Plus the review mentioned the harmonica going in all but 'a bit between the verses' on track 4. Its barely in it at all.... But at least he tried I suppose. A bit more of stuff like that would lift it a bit for me.
