Tbh it's kind of a "The Mantle is over but I'm still in the mood" album for me

For me The Mantle is very bare-bones sound-wise, while The White is so lush and three-dimensional. They scratch different itches, though if I had to connect it to one other album it would probably be The Mantle, yeah.

The White makes me feel like i'm dying and am ascending to heaven.

That's not even hyperbolic.

Birch White is basically Desolation Song Pt. 2 and I hear a lot of Mantle's feeling in Pantheist ... pretty sure it's deliberate, as that album also had that pantheism topic going on.

Gonna disagree about what you said about Mantle though, it's one of my favorite albums and my favorite Agalloch by quite a bit

It feels like I'm being buried in a snowfall while birds sings and sunbeams shine on me through tree branches.

Hm ... standing on a shore, realizig that you are basically one with the whole body of being that spawned the mighty waves before you. There's a lot of that coast feeling going on on The White imo, partly because of the Wicker Man probably

The samples are from the 70s movie with Christopher Lee though. Haven't seen the remake (and I probably won't because I can't stand Cage)

I'm entirely joking, I haven't even seen it except for random clips which were admittedly pretty entertaining.

Is it just me or the wood on the artwork is on pretty low resolution?
