Prefer this to Betty tbh. Really great album.

Underrated for sure. It was bashed pretty hard by critics at the time, but it's still one of my favorite Helmet albums regardless

Oh ueah this is definitely a grower. While it sounds cleaner than the previous records it still has that classic Helmet sound. Fun fact: produced by the guy who scored Zombieland

I think it’s because a lot of critics initially saw the album as a drop off in quality for the band, so a lot of other people probably followed suit. To me though, this is their last excellent album

that makes sense for the time but i mean this site loves chevelle and thats a 00s band so why dont they like this too

First 4 Helmet albums destroy Chevelle. After that, Chevelle is far more consistent
Though they are different imo

It's so annoying that page forgot both forgot how to sing melodically without sounding extremely strained or flat and and his harsher barks after Aftertaste. Which is a shame because his cleans and his barks both peak on aftertaste

He somewhat bettered himself on seeing eye dog and forwards but it's still a pretty far cry from the old days

Page's vocals are probably at their best here

Can agree on the cleans but the harsh vocals do not have the furious edge of Strap it On or Meantime here

Yeah you're right - I should have specified clean vocals
