this review would make a lot more sense if you didn't give Illmatic a perfect score, it's
really
hard for me to wrap my head around the idea an album one would consider a 5/5 could be overrated
already explained you can only rate in increments of .5 so a 5 isn't a perfect score. If you want to
rate something 4.76 you have to pick 5.
@musicallychallenged id probably rate this 4.7 - 4.8
agreed, hiphop is all about the flow its really not tho, if you cant do anything more
than spit
verbose lines about how you magically matured when you became 20 and decided to stop getting wasted
every night so you could save the $ for some scratch it tickets....theres a problem. plus you could
pick any 3 bars from AZ's verse that outdoes Nas' entire verse on Life's a Bitch.
honestly i cant even believe people are trying to defend him being a GOAT lyricist on this album. He
features one emcee on this album and gets killed by him.
word. right off the bat on NY State of Mind he goes "I don't even know how to start this shit
yo... cant believe he was only 17 He was 20, listen to lifes a bitch lyric's. and that quote
just means he didn't know how to start the song... like he didn't write an actual opening line, NY
state of mind isn't a freestyle, none of this is.
You are making excuses for sloppy lyrics, that was the entire thesis of my review.

yeah, I wouldn't say his lyrics are sloppy. Nas is practically a lyrical surgeon on this album

Album Rating: 5.0
Again, not sloppy per se, sloppy relative to:
-i bomb atomically, socrate's phillosophies and hypothesis can't define how i be droppin these
mockeries.
-what difference does it make if they tell you what they make?!
you aint gettin none of it, the city they not runnin it
they runnin out of it, cuz cats wanna put em under it!
-Hell is not a place you go, if you not a Christian
it's the failure of your life's greatest ambition
It's a bad decision to blindly follow any religion
I don't see the difference in between the raw and the wrong
Soldiers emptyin' their clips at little kids and their moms
Are just like a desperate motherfucker strapped to a bomb
Humanity is gone, smoked up in a gravity bong
by a democrat republican Cheech and Chong

Album Rating: 5.0
yeah the lyrics on here are pretty sloppy in comparison to those only because they're all over the place topically but I mean so many solitary lines are absolute gold

Kanye's crafted an entire career of sloppy lyrics then.
