I relistened to it and now I'm in face two of listening to an album, the one when you remember why it's so fucking great.

Nice review! I agree with the comments about the overwhelming prevalence of the vocals in the mix and throughout the record; it's probably the only thing dragging the record down a little for me. I like the drum mix though. To each his own I guess.

I'm new here and not sure if I should even be critiquing or anything of the sort, but I think you mean "lyrical" when you say "...the band also improved their lyrically ability," and also the sentence "[o]pposing the first half of the record is the much more subdued second half which gives the band to display more lyrical excellence" may be missing a few words, possibly "a chance" between "band" and "to."

I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time, heh.

welcome to the site RabbitSeason. Have a nice time here and don't mind saying your opinion about reviews, that's how the writers see where they're lacking. Album rules.

Finally checking this out and it seems like a lot to take in. Feathergun was less all over the place and i kinda liked that. Dark charade is really sick though

yeah i think these guys have a real issue with 'disjointed' songwriting. was thinking of highlighting that if i did a review of this album, but never got round to it. regardless, i think these guys may actually be my favorite current prog rock band, seeing as karnivool's last lp was a mess and porcupine tree aint coming back any time soon.
