At the very least check out debut through Good News. That's arguably their last album that most people can agree was good at the very least and it's a dividing point between their change in style to something with a more poppy vibe.

I like poppy stuff so I don't see why I wouldn't like their latest.

Just going off the fact that it's poppy

New one is pretty divisive. I remember liking it, but I've heard a variety of opinions on it.

One of my favorite albums of theirs is Good News, so I definitely don't mind the poppy-er vibes they've incorporated over the years.

This > Long Drive > Moon > WWD > Good News > Strangers (though I only gave it one listen)

This is a 5, LD and M&A are 4.5s, WWD is a 4, and then it's a big gap in quality with a 3 for GN and a 2.5 for STO

Haven't listened to Good News in a long time but I remember long stretches of it being pretty ho-hum and it was an easy record to tune out to, whereas We Were Dead not only keeps me interested the whole way through, but its highlights ("Spitting Venom," "Parting of the Sensory" and "March Into the Sea" for instance) curbstomp anything on GN imo, though "Bukowski" is class

exact opposite really, highlights are great on WWD but there are a ton of duds, whilst Good News is consistently awesome
