The humour on this isn't that much different than before. "Rihanna calls me Pinnochio/She loves the way I lie, sits on my face, waits for my nose to grow" seems a lot more tasteful than say "I don't give a fuck if this chick was my own mother/I'd still fuck her with no rubber"

That particular bar wasn't a joke though. When Eminem claimed he'd fuck his own mother on MMLP he was doing it to say "Look how far I'll go. These other rappers wouldn't dare do this but I will."



Basically, he was throwing down a gauntlet. He was showing "hardcore" gangster rappers that built their image around being dangerous as people who had boundaries. He was crossing a threshold that nobody thought he would. There is nothing, nothing that deep on this album.

i think eminem is obviously talented but it doesn't matter if he just keeps rapping about his dick all the time. i prefer his more serious songs like stan, toy soldiers etc. even though they tend to be less technical. although i thought relapse was kinda underrated, even if it was trying really hard to be edgy it seemed less corny than some of his other new stuff.

The major problem with Relapse was its overusage of an accent that did absolutely nothing and wore off

extremely quickly, making 70% of the album end up sounding obnoxious if anything, so no it's not underrated

at all tbh

The verses are all pretty enjoyable on this album and seem like they will get better, its the hooks that hold this back, not any of the raps. I doubt many people are giving this album a fair chance. This sounds like one of my rant reviews.

And I agree with the points as well. Shady has fallen off pretty hard as he's hit the same struggle that Jay Z has now - you're at the top so what the fuck do you have to say now?
