why are the guitar riffs in this so much better than anything else they've done?

redux version is a miss imo which is a shame bc im not in love w how this sounds either, altho im used to the og prod now. vocals are the only improved part of the redux but the mix is so shitty it almost sounds like a live recording lmao. really wish it had the beefiness of the new one

idk all the ins and outs of their lineup shifts and writing dynamic but ik they had a guitarist leave after everything was sound which imo is about on par with this so that might explain the riffs being less interesting on everything else, but again idk who writes what so kinda pulling that out of my ass lol

Original songwriter Spencer Keene, he was on the EPs, this, and the next album

Yeah they definitely have Become more reliant on theatrics and synth and have less good riffs for sure

newer Silent Planet has more techy moments, but the best songwriting for riffs was here

Spencer was responsible for the wild riffs and the post rock elements
