(spoilers) i think the ending gave plenty of closure tbh. it was made clear by the end that the monster in question was just a physical manifestation of the grief she felt over the death of her husband. when she finally asks it what it wants at the very end and her husband comes forward and you see his final moments again, its signaling that the only way she's going to be able to live normally and have this thing thats eating away at her slowly go away is if she finally accepts his death and learns to let him go
and then the monster claims the basement, which was essentially the physical manifestation of her inability to let go of her husband, and her life finally goes back to normal. she has to let go of that part of her life if she wishes to continue on with life. of course that doesn't mean that the grief she felt completely went away, she still experiences it every day (why she has to feed it at the end), but she's learned to move on and no longer lets it define her
it was honestly a really fucking well thought out ending and i felt like it really brought the whole thing together nicely

Yeah thing is I thought that keeping the monster in the basement was a deliberate lack of closure on the part of the filmmakers, like she almost let go of her husband but then instead of getting rid of the monster completely they just kept it locked up and out of sight. The implication is there especially when she says to her son "you'll see it one day, when you're older" that there are still a lot of unresolved problems under the surface, and yet they seem to be out of immediate sight. On reflection is a really fucking clever ending, much better than a) them dying or b) them defeating the monster and everything being alright in the end

Xing is the "ive left too many lives behind" line a nod to hot cross or a coincidence?
|

This is cool, not my cup of tea, but cool nonetheless... I'm amazed at how you wrote and performed all of it, it has some intense moments (emotionally speaking), I would love to hear you composing some melodeath...

That line is a reference to Hot Cross and is mentioned in the info of the song.
I actually used to be in a melodeath/thrash band. The other guitarist has a new band now called Singularity if you want to check that out. It's technical black metal.

Technical black metal? As opposed to what?
|
| |
Symphonic black metal, regular old black metal, melodic black metal type shit, etc. It's pretty unique, I promise. It's like tech metal with a use of minor scales and the symphonic keyboard elements and vocals found in your typical black metal

It sounds like most black metal I've heard
Edit: It does sound thrash-y tho

I lied, Xing. I think I'm going to call A Visible Chill a wrap with the originally-planned six
songs. All are uploaded, now it's time to sit on them for a while in case something hits me before
the "official" release date.

You should know by now that's my favorite Hot Cross song ;)

oh yeah i got so off topic earlier that i forgot to say this is pretty sick good job buddy
my only issue is some of the songs end up feeling kind of muddy and lose their kick cause of how complex the instrumentation gets. like weird ass time signatures and drum patterns are gr8 but use them purposefully u feel
either way def a step up from the EP so gj

Everything here was crafted with the utmost care and concern for how it portrayed my emotions. In my heart of hearts, it all has purpose and nothing was done for the sole purpose of being crazy (which was the intention of Untitled). I'll keep that in mind though for the next go around

wait why did i think untitled was an EP wtf
|
| |
I used to interchange EP and LP when I would refer to it since it could fit either category until I started calling it an LP a few months back
