listening now and idk what it is maybe its like some subconcious elite thing going on in my brain but i just dont dig this modern sounding dm. i like dm when it sounds like its taken influence from the best bands of the 80s and 90s. same with that fallujah album. like its still cool but i just struggle to really enjoy them like a lot of others do.

btw this artwork is like half neat and half awful

cool colours and shit but the way the logo and title are just slapped on there and the over-digitalised shit looks really annoying

"If Doom is deathcore, what is this?"
They went from deathcore to tech death, with maybe some deathcore traits that were slowly eroded over time. This is tech death I suppose but in some ways it takes a lot of doom metal and progressive influence, at least to my ears. No core here tho.
I love the art for this and Fallujah is one of my favorite bands right now, then again I'm not a stickler for osdm or raw production though I do like that kind of stuff as well.

I'm getting the vinyl in soon. I'm actually stoked on the artwork.
Cap, this is technical death metal.

JFAC's core aspects were all but stripped away after Genesis anyways

Maybe it doesn't seem so tech because they really learned how to slow things down on this album, and focus on just good riffs in general. Demonocracy was tech overload all the way which is why it's one of their worst releases imo

I'd say even though it's a bit slower and simpler than most it's very basically classified as tech dm, with more progressive influences than other bands in the same genre

Great review, pos'd. I didn't want to read this until I finished writing mine, and it looks like we agree on almost everything.

Surprisingly good album. There's still room for improvement but they definitely have evolved a lot in recent years

Davy's vocals are.... unique. I can't think of anyone who sounds just like him.
His vocals are not bad by any means, but they're not very great either. That's what makes them... good? I dunno.

I was hoping for Entombment of a Machine-ish vocals ;)

Any album you could compare this to? Obviously they've shirked all the deathcore elements. Haven't listened to anything since Doom really.

Man I struggled hard with what I put in the "recommended by reviewer" section and none of those are really
terribly accurate. I really don't know lol
definitely doesn't sound like doom tho
