Yeah the mixing is definitely weird on that record. I don't think it sounds terrible though, doesn't really bother me when I listen to it.

this album isn't actually that unoriginal imo, it has kinda weird songwriting quirks for a melodeath album. def not a sots clone, it's just not great regardless

I find this is just solid. MS is doing their usual crap by saying its "tHE BesT in ThE lAsT TWO DECADES".

Perhaps it's because from 2000-2010 we had every other American band, metal and scene alike, doing this sound and it became the most overplayed style and wore out its welcome.

Language Of The Dead and The Skin Of A Fire as bonus tracks is beyond me, those songs are too good to be diminished like that

Don't know about you but this is my favorite album so far, specially with the bonus tracks

I thought this album was quite solid for an ATG album in the 2010's.

I'm actually pre into this

That slightly low avg is a bit misleading, assuming it is mostly because of the huge gap and/or doing a follow up to SotS

i think this sound is pretty stale in the context of the late 2000s and is held back by a pretty tame production and drum performance. everything feels a little too slow and not really as gritty or energetic as SotS. the melodies are sometimes pretty interesting and there are some cool riffs so it's not bad but i don't think it is some kind of amazing comeback
