party favors should be the new single released within a week or so apparently
im nervous about the fact that joyride won't be as experimental because i think she's just on the cusp of maintaining an actual identity in her music and going pop, but i think her mixtapes and aquarius prove she's headstrong enough to go at it her own way... i hope

she has the perfect mix of pop cuts and more 'experimental' tracks on here. hope she doesn't mess up that balance by going too far in either direction

there's a lot of hella boring stuff on here i'd rather have an album full of sick bagners like black water

i used to think a few of the tracks were boring, especially towards the end. but i'm coming to really love tracks like Wildfire and Far Side of the Moon. the only one that is really boring imo is Bated Breath. i mean it's pleasant, but that's about it

really? bated breath is my favourite and wildfire just couldn't follow it up
i guess i can understand how bated breath takes a decade to get anywhere but i think aquarius explores a lot of different things and bb is the only non-interlude song that kind of drifts in its atmosphere after a bunch of highkey tracks

i dont use spotify

you should, it's pretty convenient for sampling an album in decent quality at any time
|

i refuse to
convenience makes lazy

might as well not even have a digital collection using that logic

why use soulseek, you should be scouring blogs thath aven't been updated since 2007 instead
|
| |
there's not much of a difference between using the soulseek search bar and using the google search bar and even if you'd ignore financial limitations a digital approach is an absolute necessity if you want to process as much material as i do
anyway, this isn't about the effect using spotify would have on me personally but rather about its effect on how people in general approach music and i don't want to support them

.. do tell 🙇

there's not much of a difference between using the soulseek search bar
then why dl a separate client etc, but i hear ya. care to elaborate on the last part?
|

if you use spotify solely as a library then it's really whatever but people that start their musical journey with spotify won't learn to critically approach music because the whole point of streaming services is replacing human interaction with algorithms
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
that's true. but by the same token you can probably say that it can be useful for people starting their musical journey since it's like a mini last.fm in which you can play any song/album recommended. or the wide variety of themed playlists on there that can open people up to new things.
at the end of the day, it's up to the people if they want to listen to the recs or not and also up to them to determine if they like it or not. the algorithms are just there to assist instead of replace music discovery. besides, most people don't use it for discovery anyway. it's just a convenient way to stream music is all
but ultimately, why boycott it based on how other people voluntarily use it?
