I feel like I don't know who you are anymore, Rowan.

...because I don't like Bittersweet Symphony? if it makes you feel better two of my schoolfriends covered it once and it was amazing
|
| |
Oh yeah. Now you pull out the whole "but I have gay friends" excuse. Save it. You're dead to me.
|
| |
Are you insinuating only gay people can do covers of Bittersweet Symphony? because I'll have you know these friends were both of the female genre
|
| |
Damn. Female genre. Gonna have to steal that one. And are you insinuating that females can't be gay?
|
| |
Haha I stole it from somewhere else, can't remember where
And no, I'm simply stating the fact that these in particular are not gay. (Well, to my knowledge). Checkmate.

I'm getting more of a Pumpkins vibe then a britpop vibe.
|
| |
Can someone tell me if this is actually good?
My instincts say it has to be terrible.
|
| |
If I listen to this and it's not Smashing Pumpkins go Brit Pop, imma be pissed.
This is over when I say it is, Rowan

It's in the middle of the road. It's has a surprising amount of substance for people who anticipated Danger Days MCR material but the record hasn't really done much for me. Fun, enjoyable but very forgettable.

And by Pumpkins-ish, this record really seems to try and emulate that fuzzy guitar tone.

Good review. I'm not sold on the whole britpop comparison. Vocally he seems to be much of the same, musically it sounds very lo-fi and has a lot of crunchy/droney guitar effects, something that I find the antithesis of britpop which usually has that clear and piercing guitar tone.

| |
I heard someone compare this to bowie... If that's true, I'm all in
|
| |
Comparing this to Bowie and SP is surely just setting people up for disappointment. But maybe I'll give this a spin.

Honest way to approach it, it's a Gerard Way solo record that vocally is unmistakable and surprisingly he
does wear his influences and sound on his sleeve. From just 2 listens I wouldn't be surprised if he sat down
with a handful of records from the last 40 years (Bowie, Pumpkins, ect) and let a piece of each find a way
in. There isn't "1" thing that sticks out as "aha that's Bowie" but tiny nuances in chord progression,
guitar tone, vocal style ect you can be reminded of something else. The single "No Shows" does a pretty good
job of sampling the tone and atmosphere of the record.

lol damn. gotta check this one
|
| |
I'll probably check this but my expectations are low
