It was cool, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as 4 or 3

I'm curious how many of you played the first Halo within the first year of it's release and have played each Halo game around the time of its own release. I remember 2005 going to blockbuster to play Halo 1 tournaments. If I never played Halo up until now and played all of them consecutively I'm sure some of my ratings would change. I don't know if Halo would be my #1.

Yea the chief actually became interesting in 4 for once but up until then he's just blehh. Just thank god literally everything else saves the game haha

Reach's ending would have worked if we, you know, CARED about the characters

I agree that 4 had the best plot but its like just like pokemon; you dont play that game for the story, you play it for superb gameplay, multiplayer and content

@Storm I actually never owned a Halo game until 2 years ago when I bought the whole series used (really cheaply) for Halo 4. Basically played all of them in a row.

Reach is basically a who can have the noblest but entirely avoidable death competition.

The one Spartan who escorted Dr. Halsey off Reach survived.

@elcraw: Nice. I can only imagine how epic that was. What's your favorite?

Jorge's death was stupid, he could just given the detonator to one of the surviving marines and then jumped but nope.

Strangely enough, I got my xbox in 2009 and started with Halo 3. Thoroughly loved the online, but didn't understand what the fuck was going on in the story by any means lol

@Storm I really liked the first one for its simplicity and Metroid-esque feelings of isolation, the 3rd was my favorite for
the scale of the fights though. Reach was the only campaign I didn't really enjoy. I haven't played the campaigns since
then, I should totally play through them again sometime soon.

Not real big on the Halo games, but they always do have pretty sweet soundtracks.

Yea bro they're always amazing. This guy may not be composing for the new trilogy but the music in 4 is pretty great too.

Nobuo Uematsu is still the best VG composer though
