I actually like this, and I've more or less hated this band up until now. Some of it is definitely still
very stale, just like their old material. But the stuff they did right is actually pretty great. They still
need to work on keeping their guitar work interesting though. Some songs don't suffer from that issue but
others are extremely repetitive and dull in that department. They should really try to make good lead work a
constant thing rather than just a sometimes thing.

snide I figured I would just generalize the whole 21st century
titan exactly how is that bad? Makes plenty of sense from where I'm sitting. Really wondering who the fuck is negging for stupid shit.

Overall great review, go back and sprinkle in some commas though.
This album really impressed me though, the vox and drums are killer.

Metalcore doesn't need to gain respect, many metalcore bands are respected. There's a style of metalcore that everyone hates but I don't see that style gaining respect.

Even including all the sputcore bands (converge, botch, zao etc) that ARE respected, Game is still correct in saying that.
Metalcore as a whole is almost always looked down on by listeners of other metal genres.

| |
People that don't like bm look down on it but we don't sit around talking about deafheaven making bm more respected.

I think 'dense' is the word I'm looking for here
|
| |
"the vocals suck" "it's repetitive" "There's no genuine emotion" "it's too simplistic" "it takes itself to
seriously"
Bm really isn't respected by people that don't listen to it.
"Hey, deafheaven, dekadent, and a few other post black metal bands are making music that appeals a wider
audience. Maybe they will help bm become more respected."
That would be really stupid to say that, but it's even dumber to say, "Hey texas in july made an album that
imo is slightly better then other metalcore. Maybe they will help metalcore become more respected."
|
| |
that's a big hole

"Texas In July has never been what anyone would call a bright line shining out from the depths of the genre"
just a misspelling I noticed.
I also noticed you like to abbreviate their name and write it out other times, might wanna fix that up for consistency.
One last thing, noticed that you mention their vocalist by name but not their drummer, I'd change that. This was a solid review and I look forward to reading more from you.

With all the editing I've done I'm surprised I missed that. Thanks for spotting it.
When it comes to abbreviating the name I tried to write it out at the beginning and end. The beginning to keep it clear what the abbreviation was and the end to add to the sense of conclusion. Changed a spot in the middle that I forgot to abbreviate so it should read better.
The vocalist was the the biggest change in band structure and I wanted to highlight his impact on the album. Don't know the other band members and didn't want to bother digging it up. The drummer is great tho. Thanks for the kind words Mercy.

If you're gonna write a review, you might wanna dig up the drummer's name and include it for consistency's sake.
