I'd expect this to have way more than just two pages of comments

EDIT: And now I made it three

Odd review for a great album. Not sure where the medieval stuff has come from. They are certainly not a neo medieval band, doubt they’ve ever aligned themselves to any such genre. I’ve listened to this album so much and don’t think I’ve ever considered anything remotely medieval about it. Atmospheric, folk and some Middle Eastern flourishes maybe. And never considered this album depressing in the slightest. And to be critical of a DCD album appearing strange is somewhat redundant and more reflective of the ears listening than the music playing. Exotic, other-worldly, culturally diverse arrangements and choice of instruments - seems odd trying to knock them for what is quintessential to their whole sound.

The Carnival is Over is an amazing song, in their top 5 imo

I'll be honest, Aion is ok but my least favorite Dead Can Dance. Or Dionysus.

One of DCD's best. Why this band always reminds me of Dark Souls 2?

Can't believe I've never heard this one. Don't jam this band enough, and going in now makes me regret this - badass opener, shit damn

Not a take I expected to have for this, but The Spider's Stratagem and Towards the Within sound like the shit del Naja and 3D were blazing it up to when they conceived Mezzanine

Closer is kinda a drag ngl, not a peak Brendan moment. That said, I don't think any of the closers are highlights aside from Ulysses
