That's some impressive work Scuro :-)

Have you heard this yet? Think I like the bookends & 'Deus' the best.

Congrats to 'Arch' as well on a fantastic review - I'm generally skulking around on this site, looking for something to read & your review inspired me to check these guys out... admittedly it helped that you mentioned 'free' & the fact they're fairly local to me as well.

I have indeed, really like that album. Though that's the only release I've heard from those guys (which is why I didn't link their newest, can't vouch for its quality yet).

Snailking is bringing the stoner sludges hard m/
Deus Ex Mollusca is my favourite on here, mainly for the verses and the breakdown in the middle. Bloody savage ^^

Oh whoops, yes I have jammed this quite a lot. Album obliterates. Recently had my ratings wiped (in order to re-evaluate them a bit easier).

Ah right. Yeah, really enjoying it so far. Love how dense & heavy it sounds. Thick & sludgy with the speed/intensity of DM (comparatively to traditional sludge). Isn't it only two guys as well? Cool band.

I think the production holds this particular record back (slightly) but it's sort of charming in it's own way, definitely has a certain atmosphere. Nice variety of different vox styles as well, plus of course (& probably most importantly), they know their way around a good riff & the song-writing is always engaging.

First impression of the 2nd record is it surpasses this by a small margin, I think the production is better but still retains it's personality (if that makes sense).

Yeah just 2 guys as far as I know. Also cool that you're checking the other albums too. The latest one is my favourite.

I think the sludge thing largely comes from the name (a mistake I know I made in the review but can't be arsed to sort out) - this is more grimy death metal with some black and doom influenced sprinkled about :]

RE: production - I actually prefer the slightly dirtier production on this than Gastronomicon! Slimewave Zero and the t/t are absolute world-destroyers though

It's got a somewhat sludgy sound though, no? Dense, thick & heavy, although I know it isn't slow, but if High on Fire can be classed as sludge-like? Admittedly I know next to nothing about 'grimy' sounding DM so perhaps I'm confused & there's the BM influences as well.

I'm here to learn, it helps to know what your listening to sometimes for reference.

Really? Haha. It's accessible in a 'this is fun & catchy' sort of way, but it brings the heaviness pretty hard. I'd say you just haven't found the right metal yet.

for me it's gotta be super catchy and accessible, otherwise i can't stomach it, idk why

i do like spacey and/or brooding post-metal tho

I know what you mean, regarding the faster metal genres anyway. Post-metal, sludge &/or atmospheric stuff is a little different for me, that's not going to be catchy but some of it's awesome.
