Sorceress is less good because the production is absolute trash. One of the major strengths of this and Heritage is the clear, dynamic production. I feel like Sorceress would have been much better if it had sounded good...

Opeth signs with Nuclear Blast and their next album sounds bad, no surprises there. Except for the surprise that I actually like a good chunk of the music. I thought I had almost lost them after this one, the only song I really dig here is the opener and admiteddly Cusp that kinda ruled live.

I especially like River here. Sorceress should also have had a more tongue in cheek track like River or Slither, to lighten up the mood.

I enjoyed the tracks from Sorceress live as well, despite not being a fan of that album. This is the worst thing they've ever written though.

Yeah it's great. Also really like Eternal Rains. One of his best vocal performances on here. And the quieter sections rule hard. Wouldn't mind something more in that direction for the next one.
