"This album is the definition of everything wrong with the genre."
lol with Metal or Idol Pop? With Metal this is barely that so it's a box of its own and in terms of Idol Pop this is so much better than most of it you'll hear due to how fun their live shows are and their whole aesthetic.

"I don't get the insincere thing from listening to this; like, i know this is manufactured and all"
You're right insincere is the wrong way to put it, manufactured is pretty much bang on. The fact that it's just a bunch of hired musicians and girls who never listened to Metal before can really rub people the wrong way. Despite that I like how they openly admit this and just want to have a good time.

if you like this you have 0 musical credibility
the same could be said for any Brand New listener

'Idk, I don't get the insincere thing from listening to this; like, i know this is manufactured and all, but it doesn't show on the album, and how hard can it be to legitimately have fun? this is a fun album, after all'
What.

It does sound insincere to me. And it really offends me somehow. Taking that legacy, and all of the struggle the genre has had with mainstream media, the way this music has helped listeners to get through harsh moments in life. (I haven't met a single metalhead who just saw a Metallica album in a store and just casually likes it, they all have a backstory)
I kinda feel like this band just disrespects that.

Also, considering vocals, having 3 Japanese girls sing high-pitch 'kawaii' vocals is just really fucking stupid.

The band never claimed to be authentic.
You're getting hurt over nothing.

As someone who has been a Metal fan over the years, helped me throughout my life I say this: Who gives a shit? This is not a bastardisation insulting metal's 'core' values, it is just people joining together over silly music to have a good time. This is not a band saying they're Heavy Metal, authentic and breath it. It's that honesty, their backstory (i.e. Idol girls who admited who knew nothing but metal but now legimately enjoy what they're doing) and the talent of a few songs/live shows that seperates it from a completely souless cash grab to something that is just a good idea from the reception it has gotten.

this album sucks ass on it's own it has nothing to do with "bastardizing metal"
