And by the dev team created by former Halo developers no less.
I don't really care for the controversy. People have a right to be offended, but I'm looking forward to playing it. Hopefully it'll be less janky than Squad.

@Pika
Bungie split up into three groups mostly. The current Bungie doesn't really have as many OG members as it used to. After Marty O'Donnell's random firing, a bunch of Bungie members left to join his newly created Highwire Games (devs of 6 Days in Fallujah).
Before that, when Bungie left Microsoft, there actually were a lot of members who stayed with Microsoft rather than leave with Bungie, Microsoft then gathered these former members together and created 343 Industries (devs of current Halo games).

Oh, didn't know that
I guess they only work well when the whole crew is together? The halo titles by 343 were pretty poor as well imo. 4 was essentially a corridor shooter with the same enemies over and over again.

Yeah pretty much. Halo on it's own wasn't good because of the efforts of one person, but the collective of the team. So splitting them up under the impression that each one was capable of a masterpiece on par with the Halo 1-3 is misguided.
Still, you're correct about 4 being a corridor shooter, but I really enjoyed the story and some of the weapons.

The weapons were cool fs, but ultimately what makes any guns satisfying to use in any shooter is well-orchestrated encounters balanced around said guns. The level designers did a REAL poor job there. I play a lot of old-school fps games and it's amazing what such small teams could accomplish with respect to gameplay (doom, duke 3d, early ss titles) - they nailed pretty much everything, ranging from weapon feedback to enemy placement and types.
And the story of Halo 4 was a bit eh. I felt it lacked the impactfulness present in the previous titles despite the super important subplots. Although it's certainly not something I'd look for in a shooter anyways.

Very true, if they had fixed the enemy placement and balanced the encounters, H4lo would've probably been the best Halo made thus far.
I'm not too worried about Fallujah in regards to what's happening to 343 and Bungie. Mostly because, while Highwire is composed of a lot of former Halo devs, the game is also being developed by former members of Atomic Games, who were the original devs of 6 Days in Fallujah. So hopefully, they'll be able to help keep the game on track and consistent, because it was their vision to begin with.

If I remember correctly, the controversy was over the fact that the American soldiers just couldn't seem to stop firing at unarmed demonstrators and killing innocent civilians. So hopefully, for a game that is going to pretend to be about "historical" accuracy, they frame the American troops as extremely problematic and potential murderers. Anything less and it's going to come across as propaganda. There was pure evil on both sides. Curious that former Halo devs are working on it, I had no idea! That brings a little more credibility to it as a quality title.

People have every right to be offended by the game and want it banned, I'm just here to play what seems like a great shooter taking place during a real period. Lot's of games have propaganda, but this isn't 2005 anymore, most gamers nowadays know propaganda when they see it and most gamers generally won't fall for it. Either or, as I said, I don't care for the controversy. I'm just here for the ride. This idea though that people can't be angry at something they don't like is ridiculous to me, but there was a time I was the same way.
I'll say this though, this game was entirely made to capitalize on controversy. They could have made this game the exact same, but changed the title to something less notable, and it wouldn't even remotely have received the level of backlash it currently has. The devs can say whatever they want, but nobody with half of a brain cell will sit here and pretend that this game was just trying to be an honest game about what American soldiers went through. They literally could have picked any other city that had a battle during that war and they chose the most controversial, bloodiest one of the bunch.
That's fine for me. I love Hatred and IS Defense and those were specifically designed to offend people. I like a good piece of media that pisses people off once in awhile, but at least the devs of Hatred and IS Defense had the balls to acknowledge what they were.
