also austerity isn't a direct steve albini rip-off, they're pretty angular and contained to be compared to something like big black

this is pretty much a straight up copy of Shellac/Big Black.

I would have to agree with you except these guys are NOT a direct copy of Steve Albini's master works, just an influence.

I honestly thought this was an Albini side project when I first heard it. Sounds most like Shellac of all his stuff

I've only seen him mentioned on this review recently and before that.......I think someone mentioned his production on Khanate......fuck it was probably me at some point. Seriously, no one mentions his name around here.

well i dont know where else i would have heard it so often because i feel like i see it all the time and i only know of him thru Big Black, Shellac and some of his engineering. maybe i just see his name on album linears all the time considering how much he has worked on.

I was meaning any mentioning of his name on this site (which I never notice). You have good taste in music so obv his name is going to pop up in your music library more often than say most metal listeners on this site. He did help create the best Neurosis albums to date.

I read an awesome article in Decibel about how he's one of the last remaining studio guru's to use analog only still.
