I don't think I have a gay side but if I had one it would sound like Traced in the Air.
Awesome way to page break.

Wouldn’t say it sucks but yeah traced is wildly overrated.

"Please recommend me prog metal albums that are as good as Traced in Air or Focus"
Aghora - Self titled is a very nice effort. It's kind of like Cynic with a female vocalist, that may be a deal breaker for some but it's a win in this case for me
Exivious - Self titled and Liminal

Saw this masterpiece of an album played live from start to finish in "The Focus of a Valediction" tour with Obscura and Cryptosis. Everything went pretty much excellent except for Paul's mic, which was close to non-sounding for the first half of the show. I don't know if it's the vocoder effects or what but it seems a common problem with Cynic shows as of late. They need to crank up Paul's mic volume. Steffen from Obscura did the harsh vocals and he killed it. Also the current tour guitar player, Mike Gilbert, is insanely good. He didn't miss a single note during the whole show and the solos were played to perfection. Rest of the band (Brandon and Matt) were as good as always. It was nice to see an acoustic version of Integral Birth played by Mr. Masvidal to the memory of Sean & Sean too.
All in all a great show which would have been close to perfect if Paul's mic had been correctly set.

I saw Cynic on their latest tour with atheist and the mixing was absolutely embarrassing. Couldn’t hear the vocals for atheist or cynic (cynic’s sound guy was required to be used for atheist for whatever reason).Tried addressing with sound team then show management then left early feeling pretty ripped off
Playing was fine, well imitated but felt a little cold to me, for both atheist and cynic. Don’t think I’ll be going to any more shows where the only dude from OG is the frontman. It takes a lot more than talented musicians thrown together to perform classic music in a live setting

Playing wasn't cold at all for me but live settings are not ideal for many metal artists and I guess Prog/Jazzy Death suffers a lot from modern standards/trends: backtracks, many things going on at the same time, very limited prep time and yeah, terrible sound guys. It's embarrasing too many times for sure.
